Short Description of Instrument |
The Verbal Motor Production Assessment for Children (VMPAC) assesses three major areas of motor speech: global motor control, focal oromotor control, sequencing of speech sounds, and two additional supplemental areas: connected speech and language control, and speech characteristics.
Test administration is approximately 30 minutes. Individuals qualified to interpret this test would either be certified by a professional organization in the relevant area of assessment or have a Master's degree in psychology, education, or a related field with training in assessment.
The measure is appropriate for ages 3 to 12 years.

Scoring |
A 3-point scale is used to assess the neuromotor integrity of the motor speech system (0 = incorrect; 1 = partially correct; 2 = Correct). Percentage scores are calculated as the raw score divided by the sum of the area's item scores. An overall score is calculated as the mean percentage score of all areas. |
